Akallandin is my favorite and oldest character.  Protection has been my favorite spec, having spent about a year as Holy in Burning Crusade when I first came to Ravenholdt.  I respec’ed Protection towards the end, and haven’t looked back.  I tried Retribution at level 78, and have kept it as my off spec ever since.  For the greater part of my time in World of Warcraft, I have done nothing but PvE with him.  Finally, starting with the Relentless Gladiator season, I decided to PvP with him as well.  If I could only keep one character, this would be it.  191 days, 12 hours, 37 minutes later, I wouldn’t trade it for any other class.

PvP: I really love Retribution as a spec.  It is so much fun to play, it is just terrible for PvP.  Protection has much more survivability, and is a lot more familiar.  I managed 1800 my first season as Retribution, and then again last season as Protection.  It’s tough not using this character more for PvP, but I certainly do like a challenge.

RP: This is the only character that I really have to remember what i’m doing on.  He favors a truce with the Horde, and does not attack.  He will only defend on Alliance territory, friends asking for help, or retaliate on a nearby settlement.  I go out of my way to try and leave Horde alone on this character, and not act aggressively.  Which is hard for me, because I love PvP.  I think I’ve done a pretty good job; If you’ll notice I do not have ‘For the Alliance’ or ‘Wrath of the Alliance’ achievements.  I did down Cairne once before I realized what I was doing, but nobody’s perfect!  I got into a bit of a frenzy there for a while when I discovered Prot for PvP but regained control of myself!  So i’m sure you’re asking how a Horde-friendly character can PvP.  Well, I do have one caveat.  Undead!  My character does not separate Forsaken from your run-of-the-mill Scourge undead.  Not to mention their occupying a former human kingdom.  Death Knights are also considered undead.  Also, back when the Blood Elves ‘kidnapped’ the Naaru, I attacked their Paladins as well until they were forgiven.
